On 23 April 2024, the EU Delegation to the Republic of Korea hosted an expert session on the topic of “Smart Grid” at the Four Seasons Hotel Seoul. The event was organised by the European Chamber of Commerce in Korea (ECCK) and Asian Insiders Korea and brought together 25 EU and Korean experts on smart grids. ECCK chairperson Philippe van Hoof gave opening remarks.
Presentations and following discussions focused on the development and challenges in upgrading electricity grids to match the growing input of renewable energy sources. Both the EU and Korea have major projects on-going in this field and shared their experiences and outlook. Participants supported the vision of continuing exchanges on this topic.
This activity was part of the EU Climate Dialogues (EUCDs) project, which will host similar sessions on Green Hydrogen and Clean Mobility in Seoul in May and in June 2024 respectively.
