In those 25 years of watching China evolve Scott has developed a deep understanding of the China market – what it wants, how it works and who to influence.

Operating his own advisory practice, Redfern Associates, Scott began in China with investment projects including China’s largest aquarium in Beijing and a Shanghai SOE Leather Tannery – both joint ventures for Venture Capital and a publicly listed company.

He continued as China CFO, then MD of a multi-national packaging group, also Asia Development Director for an NYSE publicly listed talent company, and later as Director of Finance and Board Chairman for a leading European measuring equipment company.

Since establishing RedFern Associates in 2004, Scott has supported client multinationals with acquisitions in China and has worked with a wide range of companies and brands in market entry, research, partner identification and product registrations, particularly with food and beverage and FMCG products. Scott offers consulting, research, brand protection and retail monitoring; corporate and financial services including company establishments, licensing and statutory accounting services, divestments, joint-ventures and investment projects.

Scott has been guest speaker and presenter on China strategy and market entry at major business events. He holds post-degrees accounting& business law and finance from the University of Otago in New Zealand and is a qualified and registered member of the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants.
